Puppy massage after zoomie

Owning a puppy.
Yes they are so cute , in reality, hard work and exhausting.
From early morning to around 6pm you are very much under their attention.
Getting the balance right is not always spot on.
If you over interact with a puppy it becomes very difficult to keep their excitement under control.
I put all toys away at 6pm and do mostly training basic skills.
Also calming puppy down for to unwind for the day.
If she takes a zoomie I sit in MIDDLE of floor and do absolutely nothing.
I allow her to run off her energy giving her no attention at all.
I have to be able to react quickly for she shall sometimes test me by jumping up to my face.
This is where I say nothing but put out my two hands flat to protect myself against her teeth, sharp claws and bumping my nose with her head.
Learnt from experience I may add, ouch.
Once she can see there is nothing happening around her.
After about 10mins of zoomie she finally comes to sit in front of me.
I leave her a few minutes then I give her a good girl attention with a hug , keeping it all low key without encouragement to excite her again.
Then she often lays down too.
Once she does this, I begin to massage her body.
I use this opportunity to brush her hair and do all cleaning ears etc.
She then goes and lays down in her bed to rest.
I do not allow her to sleep to long as bedtime is not until 10pm.
I give her enough time to calm down.
Where once she is awake she gets an ice cube to cool down her gums.
This has one treat in it used for her supper.
It last her about 30mins.
Then she shall spend rest of her day chewing on her teething ring.
This tires her out also keeps her calm.
I do no more excitement games.
Getting the balance right is something you have to work out between you and your pet.
It makes for an easier lifestyle and a happier healthy behaved puppy.
Annie.
