Update on Meet Rosie

Update on Rosie at age 18wks.

Rosie has been a bit of guess work on occasions.

Her toilet training outdoors.

Rosie has her own area of the garden to go out to do her business.

This area is made up from using artificial grass and training pad.

With a opaque box which she can go into on bad weather days.

She can see me and I can observe her.

It does not have a door it does have a small sheltered roof.

This keeps her dry on really wet days.

Rosie does not like bad weather  as does not lots of dogs, especially puppies.

About a week ago she began refusing to go outside at all.

She had mastered her business to be done outdoors.

Then I observed her on many occasions, she was advoiding her sheltered box.

Why?

Yep..she had outgrown it.

When she arched her back to pooh, her head touched the top.

This she did not like, quickly a bigger box was put in place.

Problem solved, for a short period of time.

She had began to fill out too, therefore the area had become to small.

This leading her to do her business in a larger patch of the garden.

To solve all problems,  an new area of the garden was chosen for her.

It became 3 times the size of the area she had.

This gave her the space to , pee and poop on separate parts of her patch.

She refused to do both on same area.

Not wanting her paws getting messed.

Simple but took a week to work this out.

Now Rosie goes too the door and barks to be let outside to do her business.

She doesn't like bad weather, there is no shelter now for her.

She knows if she doesn't do her business then she shall make her master unhappy.

This she knows with my facial expressions and no treats.

She now does her business very quickly especially when it is cold dark and wet outdoors.

Her training is now progressed to, when we go out for walks  I carry a water spray bottle, for each time she tries to eat anything from the ground she knows, here comes the spray, right onto tip of her nose.

She keeps getting sprayed until she spits out what she has lifted from the ground, with the command leave it.

When we come too the kerb of the road , whenever I stopped I would say, sit, now after a few weeks she does this without the command.

Then I say, wait, then when ready to cross the road, I  command, hurry , hurry, stay close.

This she does each time we go out for our walk.

She greets the postman, who kindly stops to allow her to get use to him.

Many people have stopped and helped socialize her.

When traffic passes, she sits and waits until it goes by.

On a busy Rd this can cause our walk to become slowed up.

She is getting confident to walk as the traffic noise passes her.

She sleeps all night in her crate with her door open, she comes and taps my bed to tell me she wants outside.

She has been in her crate with the door closed to allow me to go upstairs also to clean the house without her accidentally biting through  hoover cables.

Today, was her first time in her crate with door closed while I went out the house to make her new area in the garden.

I came in and out the house, without giving any eye contact especially when she was trying to get herself out from the closed crate.

I ignored her noises to get my attention.

I came in and out making each time a little longer.

Eventually she sat waiting on me coming to let her out.

This took one hour of constant in and out the house every 5mins upto 15mins each time.

This training shall be used until she can be left alone for a few hours.

She was scratching at the floor to draw my attention to the fact she wanted a drink of water.

I remove her place food mat and dishes, now she goes and stands looking at the closed kitchen door telling me , water is in there.

Her name recall is better and she is beginning to stop running away from me when she picks unwanted items from the ground and she wants to keep them.

I gave her a dog row , this you can watch on you tube how to do this properly.

Since then she really listens and does her sniper crawl I call it, to come to me.

Her baby teeth, I have been picking up from the floor or picking them off her tongue.

I have eight now, I have saved them and kept them safe to place inside a memory book.

She is growing faster and is twice her size now.

She eats 3 meals a day.

She is adorable and very sweet.

Her mad turns she stops immediately her lead is put on her.

All in all she is growing into an obedient little puppy.
