Rosie's invitation to meet dog for first time...I do not think so.
Rosie's encounter with meeting dogs for first time.
I have not researched into how a puppy goes about meeting dogs for first time.
I only know that it is not sociable to be invited to meet a owners dog by the owner saying, it is ok if your puppy snaps at my dog, for my dog shall snap back.
Owner informed me her dog was 7yrs old.
I declined this offer, I did suggest if she were able to wait around for an hour, I would move Rosie closer to her dog gradually.
This she soon vanished from helping out.
Onwards we travel, to come across two field dog cocker spaniel who were very active off their leads..jumping up on each other and barking loudly.
Owner calling their names which they totally blanked.
Therefore spotted Rosie who was now up in my arms, they both made a mad dash heading towards us.
I waited to see if owner could control them.
Unfortunately not for him, so I waited until they were only a few feet away from me, then I pulled on my loud alarm to frightened them off.
It worked, Rosie already use to alarm as I had allowed her to hear it many occasions before I used it.
She didn't bat an eyelid.
Then dogs went running away which is the results needed when owner loses control.
It is law to have dogs on leads at all times in public places, yet so many break this law.
Life would be so much easier if people were in control of their dogs.
My husband said he thinks I made a big mistake by getting another dog after being attacked by
4 large dogs who ripped open my beautiful cocker spaniel, left her with 6inch scar.
I didn't feel stressed with these dog situations today, it felt I was more aware of my surroundings and aware of protecting myself and my puppy.
Again husband said he feels it is not fun going out walking if you have to stay alert.
Which is true but I would rather stay alert than fall into situations.
To top my day this morning, I was getting my puppy use to doing business on grass when a lady stopped to chat.
Telling me about her sister had just lost a puppy, someone had let it out on its own, it fell into the pond and drowned.
Then she went on to say, it is ok, for she has another one it is 5mths old and a better dog.
I was lost for words, what have you to do to not allow these owners to get under your skin.
I am away now to do my research on best ways for my puppy to meet dogs, I somehow feel it won't say, allow it to snap at dogs.
Come on..
